Care Information
The textiles Nomad Design sources and uses to make our products that we make are handmade at every stage (including spinning the yarn…and mixing the dyes). When it comes to cleaning they need a little more TLC than ordinary mass produced textiles. Please read the advice below before you pop everything in the machine and hope for the best….avoid this…please.
All in all, please take care of your purchases. The artisans who make the textiles we source have poured their hearts, culture, love and skills into their very fibres. At our studio in the Cotswolds, we take the utmost care in making our products and our aim is to make pieces that last a lifetime. Hopefully they will bring you joy every time you use them to decorate your home.
MUDCLOTH
Our Mudcloths very hardwearing. They are woven and dyed by hand using a centuries old mud pigment recipe. Due to the extensive natural dyeing process, they have been washed 6 times before they arrive at our studio and can be machine washed.
WHITE MUDCLOTHS
Extensive washing will cause the black pigment to fade.
CLEANING :
Please remove the cushion inner from the cover carefully. We recommend dry cleaning the covers. You may hand wash the cushion covers using warm water and a very mild detergent. Do not scrub using a brush, wash gently with your hands. Rinse all the detergent away ad dry flat. Do not tumble dry.
IRONING :
Iron away, just not too hot.
SPOT CLEANING :
Spot clean in a basin or sink using tepid water and very mild detergent. Do not scrub.
USE OUTSIDE :
If you decide to decorate an outdoor space with your new cushions please remember to bring them inside at night time. Especially if you live in a humid climate.
If possible we recommend using them in a shaded area as the pigment may fade in direct sunlight.

IKAT
Ikat Cushions have travelled a long way from the artisan weavers we source from in Central Asia to your lovely home. They are made from 70% silk & 30% cotton. They are woven and dyed by hand using skills and techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation for over 1600 years. Say what…wow!
CLEANING :
Please remove the cushion covers carefully and dry clean.
IRONING :
You may iron the cushion covers using a cool iron (silk setting) if necessary.
SPOT CLEANING :
Please avoid getting water on your lovely new cushions. Silk doesn't particularly like water and is likely to stain with water marks if it becomes wet. Not so chic…
USE OUTSIDE :
If you decide to decorate an outdoor space with your new cushions please remember to bring them inside at night time and store in a dry place. Especially if you live in a humid climate.
If possible we recommend using them in a shaded area. As silk is a natural material and because we use natural dyes as often as possible these are likely to fade when over exposed to sunlight over an extended period of time. This happens with almost all dyes , but even more so with dyed silks.
